The decathlon at the U.S. Olympic Trials came to a close today, July 3, in Eugene, Oregon. Representing the Eastern Michigan University men's track and field team was recent graduate Solomon Simmons, who finished an impressive sixth amongst the top decathletes in the nation after amassing a total of 7829 points.
